To understand The Magicians, you must first understand Quentin Coldwater.

Quentin is the first character of the ensemble cast that we meet, and who I would assert is the main character even though it's more of an ensemble cast kind of deal. When we meet him during an exit interview from a stay in a psychiatric hospital because Quentin struggles with clinical depression. He feels that he has no real place int he world, and he dreams about his favorite fantasy land, Fillory, being real.

Quentin's dreams come true when he is invited to attend a graduate school called Brakebills, which just so happens to teach magic. Finally, finally, Quentin has a place where he feels he belongs, and he comes alive at school. While at Brakebills he and some other students discover that yes, Margaret, there is a Fillory after all! This discovery is not all joy and games, though, as I'm the land is so much darker than the books ever could have prepared Quentin or anyone else for. 

My complex feelings about Quentin led me to create a colorway based off of his faceoff with the Librarian Elijah. He loses and sacrifices so much, I just wanted to do something that holds all of that love and emotion in it.

Just a Minor Mending is a warm grey with flashes of peachy gold sparks throughout. This color represents all of the love that Quentin has (particularly for Alice and Eliot) and his unrelenting need to keep them safe.
