The extras in Casablanca were largely refugees themselves. Most of them were Jewish people who had to flee their homes for, well, obvious reasons.
Toward The End of the movie, there is a scene where the French nationals living in the Moroccan city sing "La Marseillaise," the French national anthem, in order to drown out the singing of the German soldiers. Watching the camera pan through the crowd of people who had really lost everything, who still had pride for their home after being driven from it, is heartbreaking.
As a tribute to the brave men and women who publicly declared their defiance, our second Casablanca color is a solid grey called La Marseillaise. It goes perfectly with Here's Looking At You, Kid, and I just think it's a great warm neutral.
