It's a Gift... and a Curse

"It's a gift... and... a curse."

The show Monk follows Adrian Monk, a former homicide detective with the San Francisco police department. He was suspended from the department after his wife Trudy was killed by a car bomb. The show begins several year after her death and follows him while he tries to get justice for her murder and get his badge back.

Monk has many compulsions that make his life difficult. Some of his fears, like germs, make sense, while others, like milk, seem absurd to many. But these challenges don't take away from his skills of deduction and hyperobservance. Monk notices things that no other officer does. Often when he is told how impressive he is, he responds with, "It's a gift... and a curse."

This line was my father's favorite from the show. It's a Gift... and a Curse is a bright red inspired by the Monk logo and my father's love of Italian racing cars.
