I'm a Person, and People Heal

"You know I’m not broken right? I’m not some flower or a delicate piece of glass. I’m a person. And people heal."

Julia Wicker has such a rough go of it, to understate it as much as I can. She is Quentin's best friend. She's just as intelligent as he, and much more well adjusted to the regular world, but she also harbors a secret love for magic. She's not my favorite character exactly, but her story is important and it's worth highlighting.

She starts out the show by getting rejected from Brakebills. The memory wipe they attempt doesn't work on her, and she spends the following months desperate to learn about magic. Her obsession leads her through a long series of decisions that lead to pain, trauma, and of course, magic. She pushes everyone away, she hurts people, and she gets hurt.

Julia ultimately finds peace within herself and can allow her friends to get close again. She meets someone who loves her and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her. It is truly beautiful to see her go from a woman screaming at her friends about how broken she is, to reminding us that people can heal when they have the right support.

I'm a Person and People Heal is a hopeful, glowing peachy gold with orange and yellow sparks to surprise you while you work with it. It's inspired by Julia's godhood and the sparks that her fingers create when everyone thinks magic is gone for good. Its sock sets include a mini of The Best.
